Welcome to the first issue of the new year, which opens with a special feature on “Dialoghi” by Ziad Trabelsi and Gabriele Coen, our album of the month. We interviewed the two musicians during the FoolkTalk that preceded their recent concert for the Festival Popolare Italiano. In the bag you will find a rich harvest of record reviews, starting with our recommended album of the week, Slovakia’s Júlia Kozáková’s “Manuša II”. Other highlights include “Suspended in the Mist” by the multicultural Eastern European band Sarakina, Nābu Pēra’s “Soundscape of Nicosia” from Cyprus; and 'Old Friends,' the latest album from the Macedonian-Turkish-Armenian/American multicultural group The Secret Trio. The selection continues with Kankou Kouyate’s “N’Darila” from Mali, “They Shall Take Up Serpents” by the Pastor Chris Congregation West Virginia Snake Handler Revival, and the France-based Argentine Marco Grancelli’s “Camino trunco”.
