Editor's Note
March BF-Choice is “Napoli 1534. Tra Moresche e Villanelle”, the righteous return from Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, an unprecedented and vibrant journey through sixteenth-century Naples. We have spoken to Fausta Vetere, historical and noble voice of the Neapolitan masters. Our trip to Italy continues along the trajectories designed by the diatonic accordionist Andrea Capezzuoli who has produced “Intrecci” and “Balquébec”, where he, respectively, teams up with various Italian and French musicians to explore Canadian dance music. We, then, propose one of the most intriguing current records, which is “Verrà l’estate?” of the female trio De’ Soda Sister. Of great value is Aynur’s “Hedûr”, the latest release from the Kurdish singer and author, already at the top of the Transglobal World Music Chart, and Roberto Fonseca’s “Yesun”. For our regular reading section we review Paolo Cardone’s full-bodied photographic volume “A Ciaramelle . La Novena di Natale a Riccia”. Next is the Paolo Mercurio’s writing entitled “Giovanni Ciuffreda e il Museo di Strumenti Musicali di Viareggio”. Records reviews again with Rosario Giuliani’s “Love in Traslation”, in which he’s joined by Joe Locke, Dario Deidda and Roberto Gatto. It follows the review of the unmissable reissue of “Flash Of The Spirit”, originated from the collaboration between Jon Hassell and the Burkinabe band Farafina. We close with Valerio Corzani’s snap starring Monica Pereira, singer from Guinea-Bissau.
