Editor's Note
Tosca’s “Morabeza” is our album of the month. It is an intimate work, a crossover aiming at uniting different peoples, languages and souls through music. Conceived at the end of the world tour from which the documentary “The Sound of the Voice” was taken, the disc features Joe Barbieri who produced and arranged all the songs and the presence of several guests. We have spoken to Tosca before she announced her participation in the Sanremo Festival. The result was an all-round dialogue in which she told us about her new album, the documentary and then focused on homogenisation, freedom and taking responsibility. Our journey continue through the African musical paths of “Ancestors” from the Cameroonian Erik Aliana and of two recent albums published by Arc Music, that is Musa Mboob & XamXam’s “The Gambia Sessions” and Invisible System’s “Dance to the full Moon”. Back to Europe for “August” from the Belgian Trio Dhoore and “Spiraalit / Spirals” from the Finnish Neimi. We then deal with “Cummedia” the latest release from the Catania-born singer-songwriter Cesare Basile. Reading and music with “Lungje, Po '!”, a volume with unpublished CD, written by the Friuli musician, researcher and festival director Andrea Del Favero. For the live music page, you’ll find the chronicle of Paolo Bonfanti and Martino Coppo’s gig, held in Casale Monferrato. It follows the review of Carla Marciano Quartet’s “Psychosis-Homage To Bernard Herrmann”. Foolk Magazine issue 442 ends with Valerio Corzani’s shot portraying the American drummer Jim Black at Torino Jazz Festival.
