Blogfoolk # 420 opens with our monthly album choice, Alessio Lega’s “Alla corte dell’Arbat. Le canzoni di Bulat Okudžava”, recently winner of the Targa Tenco in the “Interpreters” section. The publication of the CD-book is also an opportunity to talk about “Bulat Okudžava. Vita e destino di un poeta con la chitarra”, a volume edited by the Slavist Giulia De Florio, a joint publication by Squi[libri]. Also, we cover the project “E ti chiamaron matta” and of the biography of Ivan Della Mea, entitled “La nave dei folli”, both of them Alessio Lega’s releases. The Salentine-born singer-songwriter explains all about in our interview. Also, he anticipates some of his future projects. The journey into the Italy of folk brings to the CD + DVD set “Il Canto Popolare di Tricarico”, a collection of eight recordings of elderly singers, accompanied by a nice documentary on traditional singing in the Lucania village. The world music pages cover “Rajatila / Borderline” by the Finnish band Tuuletar, the Ukrainian singer Roksana Vikaluk’s “Personnages” and “Egoli”, that is Damon Albarn’s Africa Express project. Then, we report this year’s edition of the Festival delle Ciaramalle, held in Amatrice, Accumuli and Cittareale from August 9th to 11th. Further reviews follow with Dario Lombardo & The Blues Gang’s “War Devil’s Blues”, Paolo Fresu and Daniele Di Bonaventura’ s “Altissima Luce. Laudario di Cortona” and Kali Malone’s “The Sacrifical Code”. To end this issue, you’ll find the violinist/singer Yilian Cañizares’ in Valerio Corzani’s photo.
