È Alfio Antico, strumentista eccelso, cantante, compositore e signore dei tamburi a cornice, il protagonista della storia di copertina di FoolkMagazine #448 con il suo nuovo album “Trema La Terra”, lavoro in cui la tradizione musicale siciliana viene proiettata verso il futuro nelle intersezioni con sonorità contemporanee. Nell’intervista il musicista di Lentini racconta il suo nuovo disco. Ci occupiamo, quindi, del live “Ten Years” dei Domo Emigrantes. Ci immergiamo nel mondo musicale finnico con due dischi che mettono al centro l’organettista Markku Lepistö: “Bellows and Pipes”, registrato con l’organista Mikko Helenius, e di “Nordic Route”, in coppia con il mandolinista e chitarrista Petri Hakala. Ritornano la chitarra elettrica del veterano bretone Dan Ar Braz (“Dan Ar Dañs”) e il folk consapevole del cantante, song-catcher e ambientalista inglese Sam Lee, il quale ha realizzato lo splendido “Old Wow”. Dal Brasile ecco, poi, “O Céu é Velho Há Muito Tempo” di Lucas Santtana, figura di punta della nuova musica popolare brasiliana. Di nuovo in Italia per “Cent’anni di moltitudine”, disco postumo dell'indimenticato Paolo Chiarchi, pubblicato da Archivi della Resistenza e Istituto Ernesto de Martino. Proseguiamo con il contributo di Paolo Mercurio dal titolo: “Lyle Mays, universal music joyfully donated to humanity” e con il ricordo del sassofonista camerunese Manu Dibango. Una settimana terribile ci ha portato via Dibango, leone indomabile della musica africana, il grande pianista partenopeo pianista Jo Amoruso, già accanto a Pino Daniele e a tanti altri artisti, e in queste ultime ore, Corrado Sfogli, chitarrista, autore e direttore musicale della N.C.C.P., uomo misurato e gentile, artista raffinato e colto, che ha concepito il magnifico “Napoli 1534. Tra moresche e villanelle” (nostro BF-Choice del mese di marzo). Rendiamo omaggio al maestro Sfogli, offrendo lo scatto di Valerio Corzani.

In a horrible week we lost the indomitable lion of African music, the skilled Neapolitan pianist Jo Amoruso, who was alongside Pino Daniele and many others, and in the last few hours, Corrado Sfogli, guitarist, author and musical director of the NCCP, gentle and kind man, a gifted and refined artist who conceived the magnificent “Naples 1534. Tra Moresche e Villanelle” (which is our March BF-Choice). We pay tribute to maestro Sfogli offering you Valerio Corzani’s picture.
