Editor's Note
"Terranima" is the second release by the Salentine accordionist Vince Abbracciante bringing together guitarist Nando Di Modugno, double-bass player Giorgio Vendola and Alkemia Quartet, also featuring Gabriele Mirabassi. It is a work which conjures up jazz, folk and world music, evoking Salento as a crossroads of notes from distant lands. That and more in our talk to the Apulian musician, which opens this issue. Our recommended record is AKA Trio’s “Joy”, the debut album of the stunning musical union of three virtuosos, Antonio Forcione, Seckou Keita and Adriano Adewale, already at the top of the Transglobal World Music Chart. We move to Portugal to review “Bestiàrio”, an accomplished disc celebrating the twenty-eight year career of the Gaiteros de Lisboa. We cross the ocean to pay attention to “Cliché”, the collaboration between Marcelo Moguilevsky and Sebastián Espósito. The Italian festival season has kicked off and we present the 2019 edition of "Mare e Miniere" and the program of the 15th edition of "Premio Nazionale Città di Loano per la Musica Tradizionale Italiana”, two musical experiences not to be missed. "Musei nella rete: la tradizione zampognara nella provincia di Salerno", edited by Rosa Carafa, is a volume presenting the state of the art of the zampogna in the Salerno area. Then, we propose guitarist Ugo Gangheri’s new realise "Un biplano a sei corde". A special column of Italian Sounds Good follows. Finally, Valerio Corzani’s pic features Roberto Vecchioni live at Festa della Musica held in Matera.
