Editor's note
Blogfoolk's December BF-Choice is "Cancionero", originated from the human and artistic encounter between the Catalan actress and singer Ester Formosa and Elva Lutza, the duo consisting of Sassari-born Nico Casu (trumpet, vocals) and Gianluca Dessì (guitars). This is a work of great musical and poetic intensity, a collection of fifteen songs conjuring up a thousand musical impressions. During their short "continental" tour, with a gig in the Italy’s capital city, we heard from Gianluca and Nico. Our Italian journey continues to the north-west of the Belpaese with the bal-folk of “Gravure” by the Piedmontese band Balarù. We, then, heads to Salento to listen to "K", which marks the return of Kalàscima, pushing forward their indie-rock and electronic vein. On the international side, it's up to "Flight", the new stunning album by Afro Celt Sound System, this month at the top of the Transglobal World Music Chart. Next stop Russia for "20 Years", the anthological account of the artistic path of the Dobranotch, a St. Petersburg-based ensemble, who range from Russian urban folk to klezmer, from Eastern European dance music to Ottoman tradition. From our shelves, we propose "Nella Testa di Antonio Infantino " by Walter De Stradis. Also, we focus on "L'Eremita", the new production of the songstress Cristina Nico, we have interviewed, For our usual look at jazz sounds, follow the review of "Best Seller", an anthology retracing the path of Bandorkestra, directed by Marco Castelli. Still, as far as contemporary music is concerned, we review "Elemente" dei Cluster. Our back-cover by Valerio Corzani ends Blogfoolk issue 385 . It displays Ben Frost, caught live on stage at Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.
