Editor's Note
This week we’re kicking off in Eastern Europe with our BF-Global Choice of the month, the new album from Hungarian outfit Söndörgő, In Residence At Müpa. The record captures a massive milestone for the Eredics brothers’ band, after they were invited to curate three concerts at Budapest's National Concert Hall. They brought along some incredible guest artists, including Snarky Puppy's Michael League, Jay Jennings and Chris Bullock, plus Márta Sebestyén and Bako Jovanović. This special residency turned out to be both a huge celebration and a creative turning point for them, which we had a chat with the Hungarian band about. Looking at world music releases, our top recommendation is “Reina da Morna”, a posthumous album from Cesária Évora. Then we’ve got “The Lemoine Point” from Cornish psych-folk-krautrock band Blind Yeo, “Sümbül”, a brilliant release from Turkish-Danish singer-songwriter“Hilal Kaya, and “Will of the Water” from New Jersey's roots band Railroad Earth. Our Italian journey takes us to Tuscany with De’ Soda Sisters, who’ve just released “Si va avanti”. Moving on to live music, we're focusing on a couple of top music events hosted in Sardinia: the 19th edition of the “Premio Andrea Parodi” held in Cagliari and “Mare Llengua Festival” presented in Alghero. Over in the jazz section, we've got “Linda” from Linda Sikhakhane. Finally, Corzani Airlines catches up with French-Guadeloupean artist Célia Wa.
