Questo numero si apre con il focus su due album di Maurizio Geri: “Rencontre in Italia” con il chitarrista manouche francese Tchavolo Schmitt e “La Strada”, che segna il suo ritorno come solista. Con il chitarrista e cantante pistoiese parliamo di questi due nuovi lavori, dei passaggi cruciali nell’evoluzione del suo stile chitarristico e, immancabilmente, dell'ultimo valzer di Banditaliana, che andrà in scena il 31 dicembre. Proseguiamo con il ricordo dello straordinario percussionista Zakir Hussain, scomparso lo scorso 15 Dicembre 2024 e con le recensioni del nostro disco consigliato della settimana, “Ajdad-Ancestors. Echoes of Persia”, dell’ensemble del santurista iraniano-canadese Amir Amiri, e di “Vinde Todas” della cantante e ricercatrice galiziana Carmela. Per le letture, proponiamo “Palestinian Music in Exile: Voices of Resistance” di Louis Brehony, mentre nello spazio riservato ai live e alla didattica raccontiamo la tre giorni di convegno di studi “Il suono materia prima per inventare. Improvvisare nell’educazione e nella formazione musicale”, tenuto al Conservatorio di Catania dal 9 all'11 dicembre, e la XXVIII Edizione di “Pifferi, Muse e Zampogne”. Per Suoni Jazz trovate “Possession” di Shabaka, per proseguire nei territori della canzone d'autore con “Amorabilia”, opera prima da solista di Paolo Archetti Maestri. In chiusura nell’obiettivo di Valerio Corzani c’è una storica immagine di Bebel Gilberto sul palco dell’edizione 2012 dello Sziget Festival a Budapest.
