Editor's Note
Songwriting is this issue 570’s cover story. “E invece non finisce mai” is a homage to Roberto Vecchioni's songbook released by Paolo Marrone, author and frontman of the Foggia-based group Favonio who teams up with Massimo Germini, musician, composer and producer, who has already worked alongside the Milanese singer-songwriter. They speak to Elisabetta Malantrucco to reveal the secrets of their new project. Our recommended disc of the week is “Roya”, Iranian-Israeli pop star Liraz latest offering. It follows “Sequana”, Algerian-French songstress Souad Massi, new release, and British poet Raymond Antrobus’ “The First Time I Wore Hearing Aids”, an album produced by Ian Brennan. Last stop the US to review “St. Paul Boulevard”, acclaimed singer-songwriter Michael McDermott’s latest album. He is the fresh winner of 2022’s Tenco Award. For live music, we attended the twenty-fifth edition of the Andrea Parodi Award in Cagliari. Also, you’ll find the chronicle of Elaine Mitchener’s and Fire’s recent Padua gigs. Then, Davide Giromini’s “Manifesto Post-Pop” is reviewed. The jazz sounds column offers Enrico Rava and Fred Hersch’s “The Song is You”. Finally, Valerio Corzani’s photo featuring keyboardist Antonio Aiazzi is this issues’s backcover.
