#FoolkMagazine471 inizia con l’intervista a Robin Perkins, producer di musica elettronica, attivista ambientalista e co-fondatore della label Shika Shika, nonché ideatore di “A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean”, per il quale ha radunato artisti latinoamericani del circuito del clubbing, Djing ed elettronica, invitandoli a creare canzoni ispirate alle registrazioni del canto di uccelli dei rispettivi paesi centro-americani che sono a rischio estinzione. Garifuna Collective, Time Cow/ Equiknoxx e Tamara Montenegro sono tra gli artisti coinvolti nell’album, i cui proventi finanzieranno gruppi ecologisti locali e progetti di salvaguardia delle specie minacciate. Ancora musiche dall’America Latina con la retrospettiva di Flavio Poltronieri su Victor Jara, nell’anniversario della sua uccisione (16 Settembre 1973) ad opera dei golpisti fascisti cileni, arricchita da un breve focus sui principali album tributo italiani al cantautore cileno. Musica dalle Ebridi con “Port Bàn” della cantante e suonatrice di arpa scozzese Maggie MacInnes e dalla Russia con “Kezeren Koiht”, bella selezione di canti della Mordvinia del Folk Group Merema. Poi in Malawi per “Mutende Mizimu. Vimbuza from Mzimba North” del Doctor Kanuska Group. Il viaggio in Italia ci porta in Sicilia per il primo album omonimo di Angelo Daddelli & e i Picciotti. Nello spazio dedicato alla musica dal vivo, Arturo Stàlteri racconta il concerto romano di Wim Mertens all’Auditorium Parco della Musica. Per la canzone d’autore ci occupiamo di “Augusto. Omaggio alla voce dei Nomadi” disco tributo ad Augusto Daolio realizzato da Graziano Romani. Per la rubrica Suoni Jazz abbiamo ascoltato per voi “Above The Below” dell’Emanuele Primavera Quintet. Chiude il numero Michele Marelli al Festival ArteScienza di Roma nello scatto di Valerio Corzani.

#FoolkMagazine471 opens with an interview with Robin Perkins, electronic music producer and co-founder of the label Shika Shika and creator of the latest project “A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean”, which brought together Latin American artists from the clubbing, Djing and electronic circuit to create songs using the recordings of the songs from endangered birds from their respective country. Garifuna Collective, Time Cow/ Equiknoxx and Tamara Montenegro are amongst the artists in the album whose profits are going to local environmentalist groups and conservation projects. More music from Latin America with Flavio Poltronieri’s retrospective on Victor Jara, on the anniversary of his murder (16 September 1973) by the Chilean Fascist coups, enriched by a brief focus on the main Italian tribute albums to the great Chilean singer-songwriter. Music from the Outer Hebrides with “Port Bàn”, released by the Scottish singer and harp player Maggie MacInnes and from Russia with “Kezeren Koiht”, Mordivian Folk Group Merema’s nice collection of songs. Then we head to Malawi for Doctor Kanuska Group’s “Mutende Mizimu. Vimbuza from Mzimba North”. Our regular Italian journey takes us to Sicily for the Angelo Daddelli & i Picciotti’s eponymous debut album. For live music, Arturo Stàlteri recounts Wim Mertens’s concert at Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. The songwriter's column offers “Augusto.
