Editor's Note
This issue’s cover story is Barbara Buonaiuto's “Otto Canzoni”, an album which does not simply represent his debut, but rather the culmination of an artistic journey passed through different musical experiences. Some of the best arrangers and musicians of the Neapolitan music scene have taken part, amongst them Lino Cannavacciulo, Paolo Del Vecchio, Brigan and Luca Urciuolo. The disc collects six unpublished and two covers that altogether capture the entire female universe, declining it under different profiles. We have spoken to the Neapolitan singer. We remain in the shadow of Vesuvius for Vito Ranucci’s “Napoli Inferno & Paradiso”. We move to Friuli to listen to Mauro Punteri's “Per Amore per odio o un ideale”, sung in Italian, Slovenian and Friulian, inspired by the memories of the partisan Angelo Punteri. From Marseille here is “Totem Sismic” by Polifonic System, led by the tremendous singer Manu Theron. We then deal with “Garmi Doç” by Vova, an ensemble that brings the culture of Hemşin to the attention of the public. From all other sides, we stop in Portugal for "Rebento", the latest release by Companhia do Canto Popular. Back to Italy we review “Quanti Nocc. Tour de Nocc / Van Tour”, the brand new live album by Davide Van De Sfroos. From our shelf we have chosen “Mare Faber” written by Guido Festinese, while the side jazz column offers “Plastic Estrogenus” by saxophonist Gianluca Vigliar. Finally, the Cape Verdean singer Neuza is the protagonist of Valerio Corzani’s pic.
