Il mese di ottobre del nostro Foolk Magazine si chiude con un numero #430 ricchissimo di letture e ascolti. Si parte con la storia di copertina, che ospita Enrico Rava nel suo ultimo album “Roma”, disco dal vivo registrato all’Auditorium Parco della Musica, inciso con il sassofonista Joe Lovano. I due maestri guidano un quintetto che comprende il pianista Giovanni Guidi e la dinamica e virtuosistica sezione ritmica formata dal batterista Gerald Cleaver e dal bassista Dezron Douglas. Abbiamo intervistato il trombettista triestino, che racconta questo nuovo lavoro, pubblicato dall’ECM, con il quale festeggia alla grande il suo ottantesimo compleanno. Jazz dalle aperture world in “The Silver Messengers”, nuovo disco di Carmen Souza, cantante lisboeta di famiglia capoverdiana, omaggio alla vita e alla musica del pianista Horace Silver. Presentiamo, poi, la fortunata collaborazione tra il violinista ungherese Lajkó Félix e il quintetto polacco Vołosi. Dalla Cina, troverete “The Sound of Silk. Chinese Strings” del venerabile maestro del guqin Li Xiantgting in coppia con la più giovane, ma già celebrata suonatrice di guqin e pipa, Cheng Yu. Di nuovo in Italia, per un salto indietro nel tempo nella Roma di Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli, messa in musica da Valerio Billeri nel nuovo disco “Er Tempo Bbono”. Spazio alla musica dal vivo con la cronaca dell’English Folk Expo/Manchester Folk Festival, andato in scena nella città del nord-ovest inglese dal 17 al 19 ottobre. Segue il racconto della XV edizione del Premio Bianca d'Aponte, che si è tenuto dal 25 al 26 ottobre ad Aversa (CE). Per le letture offriamo il numero 25/26 de “La Piva dal Carner”, mentre nella rubrica contemporanea si parla di “Resistenze Elettriche”, disco nato dalla collaborazione tra Lo Zoo di Berlino e Patrizio Fariselli. As a start, here it is our cover story, which hosts Enrico Rava’s latest release “Roma", a live recorded album, where the notable Italian jazzman joined forces with saxophonist Joe Lovano in a stellar quintet including the pianist Giovanni Guidi and a dynamic and virtuoso rhythmic session showcasing drummer Gerald Cleaver and bassist Dezron Douglas. We have spoken to the trumpeter from Trieste, who tells about this new work published by the ECM with which he celebrates his 80th birthday. It’s world music-tinged jazz on “The Silver Messengers” by singer Carmen Souza, born in Lisbon within a family of Cape Verdeans, celebrating the life of and music of the pianist Horace Silver.
