Editor's Note
The first July’s issue opens with the our album of the month, which is Brunella Selo’s “Terre del finimondo”, crossing Naples and Brazil in an elegant and passionate sonic journey of which we have spoken in the interview with the Neapolitan singer. On the world music path you’ll find the disc at number one on the August Transglobal World Music Chart, “Nayda!”, which is the debut release of the stunning Moroccan-French quartet Bab L’Bluz. We go into the heart of Africa arriving in Zimbabwe for “Washabalal 'umhlaba, Earth Song” by Black Umfolosi. Then it’s up to the partnership between the volcanic German producer Shantel Turkish band Cümbüş Cemaat, who recorded “Istanbul”. Finally, in Belgium for “Plays Bossa Nova” of MANdolinMAN quartet. With great pleasure we report live music again with the chronicle of La Notte del Caffé, staged at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, starring Stefano Saletti, Nando Citarella and Pejman Tadayon, or Cafè Lotì, with their respective ensembles, Banda Ikona, Tamburi del Vesuvio and Sufi Ensemble. From our shelf we browse Massimiliano Però's “Ballabili, pizziche e altre storie”, a book including an excellent CD. As far as songwriting is concerned we review Mauro Carrero’s "Marelanga", whilst the jazz column offers Danilo Blaiotta Trio’s "Departure". We close with another great lady of singing, the heart and steel voice of Lucilla Galeazzi in Valerio Corzani’s pic.
