Editor's Note
Welcome to “Foolk Magazine” Issue #436. The top story is the Saharawi singer and activist Aziza Brahim, whose brand new album “Sahari” has been produced by Amparo Sanchez of the Spanish band Amparanoia. A source of inspiration is still the Saharawi people extreme living conditions in the refugee camps, as they are prevented from returning to their land. Haul music (Saharawi music), however, is here taken to a new dimension. We stay in Africa to talk about “Abeg No Vex” of the Ekitis Sound project, created by the Nigerian singer, musician and producer Leke aka ChiF. Our journey continues with “Sul filo”, originated from the collaboration between the experimental Sardinian guitarist Paolo Angeli and the well-known Czech artist Iva Bittová. Two albums by the celebrated Roman singer, composer and researcher Giovanna Marini follow (“Giovanna Marini sings Matteo Salvatore” and “Cantata a Riace”). Then it’s time for cutting edge XXI century bagpipe with Christian Di Fiore & Sinfonia Ensemble’s “Zampogna e ..”, a disc produced by Scapoli’s Circolo della Zampogna. For live music, there is the chronicle of actor Alessandro Haber’s recital at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. This week’s reading is the full-bodied volume "David Crosby. Ultimo eroe dell’era dell’Acquario” written by Marco Grompi. On the jazz side we offer “MusicaParte” released by the saxophonist Franco Olivero, while for the contemporary page you’ll find “Delirium Tremens” crafted by the Neapolitan guitarist Marcello Giannini. Still in the musical Naples, here you have Valerio Corzani’s pic, whose protagonist is Enzo Gragnaniello on stage at the latest edition of the Premio Bianca d'Aponte.
