Si tratta di un lavoro di musica folk strumentale d’autore dalle eleganti trame acustiche. A raccontarcelo è lo stesso virtuoso organettista genovese. La pagina world si apre con un ricordo di Chartwell Shorayi Dutiro, da poco scomparso, che è stato tra i principali ambasciatori della mbira degli shona della Zimbabwe. Dagli States arriva “Sacred Music of the Hopi Tribe” degli Öngtupqa, dall’india salutimao il gioioso “Times of Maharajas” dei Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan. Ci spostiamo in Europa per il disco consigliato della settimana, che è “Metamodal”, il ritorno del Sokratis Sinopoulos Quartet con un’opera dove si incrociano jazz, improvvisazione, classicismo e forme folkloriche. Ci rimettiamo sui sentieri della musica italiana con “Bluesanza” del cantautore abruzzese Setak. Per la musica dal vivo, c’è la cronaca dell’edizione 2019 de Li Ucci Festival, andata in scena a Cutrofiano (Lecce) dall’8 al 22 settembre. Lo spazio jazz offre un focus sul tastierista Riccardo Fassi, con un trittico di recensioni: “Riccardo Fassi Tankio Band meets Fabio Morgera”, “Riccardo Fassi Tankio Band plays Zappa. The Return of the Fat Chicken” e “Portraits of Interior Landscape”, inciso con il suo quartetto. Ci occupiamo, poi, di “Stabat Mater” di Paolo Paglia. Chiude il numero 426 di Blogfoolk il sassofonista Stefano Di Battista, ripreso dall’obiettivo di Valerio Corzani. Infine, diciamo addio al jazzista e improvvisatore Gianni Lenoci, straordinaria figura di pianista, compositore e didatta al Conservatorio di Monopoli, scomparso all’età di 56 anni il 30 settembre.

Our October BF-Choice is “Maestrale”, the latest album by a trio from Liguria, Filippo Gambetta (diatonic accordion), Sergio Caputo (fiddle) and Carmelo Russo (guitar). It is a work of newly composed instrumental music characterised by masterful, elegant acoustic textures. The Genoese virtuoso organetto player has spoken to us about the new release. For our world music page we pay tribute to the remarkable Chartwell Shorayi Dutiro, recently departed. He has been one the main ambassadors of the mbira music of the Zimbabwean Shona people. It follows the review of Öngtupqa’s “Sacred Music of the Hopi Tribe”, whilst from India we meet the joyous “Times of Maharajas”, released by Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan. We move to Europe for this week’s recommended record, which is “Metamodal”, the comeback of Sokratis Sinopoulos Quartet, where jazz, impro and classical music meet folk forms. Back on the paths of Italian music with propose “Bluesanza”, a new released by the Abruzzo singer Setak.
