Editor's Note
This issue’s opening story features “Mediterraneo Express”, the debut album from Indaco Project, further development of the musical path earlier undertaken by Mario Pio Mancini with Indaco and Nu-Indigos. We have caught up with the Roman multi-instrumentalist and with Valeria Villeggia, songwriter and harpist who completes a line-up also including Bruno Zoia, to find out about their new adventure. We move to Veneto for “Cicole Ciacole”, Contrada Lorì’s latest release. The international folk & world page brings you Afro-american banjoist & fiddler Jake Blount’s “Spider Tales”, Groupe RTD’s “The Dancing Devils of Djibouti”, the first international album from the East Africa tiny country, and the eponymous album from the Portuguese-Catalan duo Lina_Raül Refree. From our bookshelf we have picked up Giovanni De Zorzi’ s excellent volume “Maqām. Paths between art music in the Middle Eastern and Central Asian area” published by SquiLibri, whilst for the Italian Sounds Good column we offer a focus on "Piccola raccolta di brani mortali" by Mephitis Ensemble. Not to be missed is “To Know Without Knowing, where the Ethio-jazz maestro Mulatu Astatke teams up with Melbourne collective Black Jesus Experience”. Next is Gianfranco Grilli’s “Over The Horizon”. Finally, Valerio Corzani’s image captures the British saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia.
