Mi fermo a guardare la luna" marks the comeback of Alan Wurzburger, Neapolitan songwriter, originated from the 70s music scene, producing some great albums which granted him success even abroad. We met him during the preview of “FoolkNight”, that took place in Rome at Club55. In the interview we take a retrospective look at his career, before having insights into his most recent work. We dive into world music with an Ottoman focus that embraces two albums. The first one is “Musica delle Corti da Herat a Istanbul”, the latest production of Ensemble Bîrûn, which groups musicians involved with formation seminars on classical Ottoman music from the Institute of Compared Intercultural Musical Studies of Fondazione Cini, under the musical guidance of Kudsi Erguner. The second one presents themes from 18th century composer and intellectual Dilhayat Kalfa ("Dilhayat Kalfa: Eserleri/Classics"), performed by the ensemble Lale Kadınlar Topluluğu: two works that open the doors to a fascinating journey in space and time. “Kasahwa: Early Singles”, on the other hand, collects the earlier works of mbira virtuoso Stella Chiweshe, artist from Zimbawe, who changed the sounds of the “thumb piano”. For live music Orietta Fossati reports on the XI Edition of the moving transnational program “Festival del Canto Spontaneo”. From London we have the chronicle of the concert of the Ukrainian ensemble DakhaBrakha, a musical project thought by Vladyslav Troitskyi. Our weekly suggested reading is the book with 2 CDs “Cantôrs di Plêf. Il canto liturgico di tradizione orale nella Pieve di Santa Maria di Gorto", curated by Roberto Frisano, who takes us in Carnia on the paths of the ancient canto patriarchino. We are back to songwriting with the review of “Luna Nuova” of Fabrizio Zanotti, while on the jazz side we offer “Summerwind”, where Lars Danielsson and Paolo Fresu have met. More reviews with “Prati Bagnati dal Monte Analogo” by Raul Lovisoni and Francesco Messina. A celebrative ending for Blogfoolk #379 with the photo back-cover signed by Valerio Corzani, who this week presents Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, winners of the Best Group category in the prestigious Songlines Music Awards 2018.
