Editor's Note
Giuliana Soscia’s “Indo Jazz Project” has just been released, a mixture of various musical languages, ranging from jazz to Indian music, filled with a classic touch, to create an original and unusual musical texture. It is a great opportunity to interview the Roman pianist, revealing how the new project developed. We continue on the paths of world music with “God is not a terrorist” (Glitterbeat), in which the celebrated producer Ian Brennan brings the precious, intense singing of Pakistani Ustad Saami to the attention of the world. Still a great voice at centre stage with “Ser”, a meeting between the Mongolian singer Urna Chahar-Tugchi and the Polish trio Kroke. Returning to Italy, we go on the routes traced by Khaossia in their new realise “Magellano”. It follows an extensive live music page. First of all, Giovanni De Zorzi narrates the Aga Khan Music Awards, held from 29th to 31th March at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, a three-day stunning event, displaying the state of the art of music in the Islamic area. Still in the Lusophone area, but a completely different kind of music has been hosted at the Atlantic Music Expo, which took place in Cape Verde from 8th to 11th April 2019. Then, there is the report of the gig given by the Niger women's group Les Filles de Illighadad at Teatro Candiani in Mestre. Another Italian stop for “Confessioni di un musicante”, where folk veteran, multi-instrumentalist and singer Silvio Trotta pays tribute to the work of Angelo Branduardi. To complete Blogfoolk # 404 we offer a review of the anthology “Noises” and Valerio Corzani’s pic (he also has illustrated the report from Cape Verde), starring Lucia De Carvalho, one of the “coup de coeur” of the Atlantic Expo.
