Questa settima il focus è sul volume “Missing! Music. Voices from Where the Dirt Roads End” di Ian Brennan contenente un’introduzione e gli scatti di sua moglie, la fotografa e filmmaker afro-discendente Marilena Umuhoza Delli. Si tratta di una notevole raccolta di “road maps” sonore che documentano le più recenti registrazioni sul campo del blasonato produttore. Abbiamo intervistato Brennan e Delli Umuhoza per sapere di più di queste imperdibili narrazioni. Presentiamo una ricca selezione di album, iniziando dalla doppia recensione di due lavori dell’organettista belga Didier Laloy, “Symphonic”, realizzato insieme all’Orquesta Del Lyceum De La Habana, e "Komorebi Live" del duo Dyad (con il contrabbassista Adrien Tyberghein). Seguono “Hajda!” del frizzante combo polacco-bielorusso Hajda Banda, “Lamana”, album di esordio del trio curdo-siriano/tunisino FusaiFusa – disco consigliato della settimana – e “Caribe" della violoncellista e cantante cubana Ana Carla Maza. In Italia, quindi, per un disco rivolto al mercato giapponese: “Amurusanza” dell’Italian Rondinella Quartet. Ci occupiamo dell'edizione 2024 di Babel Music Xp, forum mediterraneo delle musiche mondiali di cui siamo stati media partner. Nello spazio jazz c’è “Dab-Hi” dei NaraBara, mentre in quello dedicato alla canzone d'autore trovate “Pastiche" di Francesco De Gregori e Checco Zalone, di cui abbiamo seguito lo showcase di presentazione. Chiusura come da programma, affidata allo scatto di Valerio Corzani che ritrae il compositore Pasquale Catalano.

This week's focus is on Ian Brennan, latest book, "Missing! Music. Voices from Where the Dirt Roads End”, which contains an introduction and photographs by his wife, the Afro-descendant photographer and filmmaker Marilena Umuhoza Delli. It's a stunning collection of sonic "road maps" documenting the most recent field recordings of the esteemed producer. We interviewed Brennan and Umuhoza Delli to learn more about these compelling narratives. We then present a rich selection of albums, starting with the dual review of two releases by Belgian accordionist Didier Laloy, 'Symphonic', created together with the Orquesta Del Lyceum De La Habana, and 'Komorebi Live' by the duo Dyad (with double bassist Adrien Tyberghein). Following are 'Hajda!' by the lively Polish-Belarusian combo Hajda Banda, 'Lamana', debut album of the Kurdish-Syrian/Tunisian trio FusaiFusa – our recommended album of the week – and Cuban cellist and singer Ana Carla Maza’s ‘Caribe’. In Italy, then, for an album aimed at the Japanese market: 'Amurusanza' by the Italian Rondinella Quartet. We cover the 2024 edition of Babel Music Xp, the Mediterranean forum for ‘world music’ of which we have been media partners. In the jazz space there's 'Dab-Hi' by NaraBara, while in the singer-songwriter section you'll find 'Pastiche' by Francesco De Gregori and Checco Zalone, of which we followed the presentation showcase.
