Le pubblicazioni di settembre si aprono con il focus sul nostro disco del mese, “Sta Strada”, il quinto album de La Cantiga de La Serena. Al suo interno le stratificazioni culturali del Mare Nostrum – dal repertorio sefardita alla tradizione lucana e ligure, fino al rebetiko e alle registrazioni sul campo salentine – convergono attorno alla figura della madre, declinata tra preghiera laica, Dea Madre e invocazione protettrice. Ne abbiamo parlato con la flautista Giorgia Santoro. Ci spostiamo in Bretagna con la doppia recensione di “Gouloù mil steredenn” di Typhaine Corre & Tangi Le Gall-Carré e di “Souvenir de la kermesse” di Jeanne Lemoine & Cyril Couchoux. Ci occupiamo poi della nuova produzione di Ian Brennan, “Land of the Sun” dei Red Spirit Singers, per raggiungere in seguito il Giappone con il sorprendente "From Japan With Love" dei Minyo Crusaders, album ai vertici della Transglobal World Music Chart di settembre e nostro disco consigliato. La cronaca della musica dal vivo ci porta prima in Irlanda per lo storico festival “Masters Of Tradition” di Bantry. In Italia, facciamo poi tappa all’ “Ariano Folk Festival”, per festeggiare la sua trentesima edizione. Non poteva mancare un resoconto del piccolo esperimento di “Allu Friscu”, rassegna estiva promossa dalla nostra testata con la curatela di Andrea Carlino e Salvatore Esposito. Per i suoni jazz ci dedichiamo a “Suite for Miles” della Giovanni Falzone Libera Band, mentre per la canzone d'autore ospitiamo una retrospettiva di Franco Settimo su “Folk Beat n. 1” di Francesco Guccini. Infine, Valerio Corzani chiude come di consueto con il suo scatto, che questa settimana ritrae il trombettista Amir ElSaffar sul palco del Babel Music XP.

September’s publications kick off focusing on our album of the month, "Sta Strada", the fifth release from La Cantiga de La Serena. On this record, the cultural layers of the Mediterranean – from the Sephardic repertoire to the Lucanian and Ligurian traditions, right through to rebetiko and Salento field recordings – converge around the figure of the mother, explored as a secular prayer, Mother Goddess, and protective invocation. We chatted about it with flautist Giorgia Santoro. We then head over to Brittany for a double review of the Typhaine Corre & Tangi Le Gall-Carré album "Gouloù mil steredenn" alongside the Jeanne Lemoine & Cyril Couchoux record “Souvenir de la kermesse”. Next up, we look at Ian Brennan's latest production, the Red Spirit Singers release “Land of the Sun”, before travelling to Japan with the Minyo Crusaders' surprising "From Japan with Love", an album currently topping September's Transglobal World Music Chart whcih is our pick of the week. Our live music coverage takes us first to Ireland for Bantry's historic “Masters Of Tradition” festival. Back to Italy, we then stop at the “Ariano Folk Festival” to celebrate its thirtieth year. We also couldn’t miss out on a report from the little “Allu Friscu” experiment, the summer festival promoted by our magazine and curated by Andrea Carlino and Salvatore Esposito.
